by Philippa Gregory
In my opinion, Philippa’s best novel yet. The characters of the three sisters are exquisitely portrayed through the eyes of Margaret, Henry VIII’s oldest sister, who is destined to become an embattled Scots queen. There is much irony in the rapid ups and downs of the young woman, born into wealth and status, who has to flee for her life and abandon her worldly wealth. With every page turned, a new political problem or alliance emerges, making one think of the warring families in modern-day Iraq. You won’t be able to put it down.
